Secret Mill

A brief history of recovery

Order

By the spring of 2023, nature had begun to reclaim the space.

While quite beautiful, this was not beneficial for the integrity of the building. In an ideal world, we would reverse the course of events and put a roof back onto the patio. However this option was prohibitively expensive.

Fortunately, from the chaos had emerged a brave idea: what if we did not replace the roof?

The first step was to remove the damaged concrete floor, in preparation.

And then to lay a new, even sub-floor..

Then, we could lay a new floor that would resist the elements.

Next, we would clean the debris from the walls and woodwork, prior to painting again.

And finally, paint the walls.
